You'll have to determine what segments of your list you want to reach and the content you want to send them. And you'll have to consider lots of options. Do you want to tailor your content to individuals or to segments of your file? Will you be personalising your message? What data will you select from your database to use in the personalisation - name, address, company name?

Will you be using a segment of your list as a control segment against which you test other messages? Will you need to delete list members based on criteria such as their country, or address, or ISP?

Where and how were the names acquired?
How long ago were they acquired?
What is the list's churn rate?
How recently and how frequently have they been mailed?
Who has mailed the list recently?
What was mailed to the list - newsletters? Advertisements?
